Asus Eee Pad Transformer Android 3 0 Officially

ASUS has officially launched its first Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet, the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, a 10.1-inch slate promising up to 16hrs runtime when used with the battery-toting keyboard dock. Running Honeycomb on NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor and fronted by a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 IPS touchscreen display, the Transformer has a pair of cameras and optional 3G connectivity.

There’s a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a 1.3-megapixel webcam up front; meanwhile inside there’s 16GB or 32GB of storage, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and all the usual sensors: accelerometer, GPS, digital compass, etc. The slate’s internal battery is good for 9.5hrs alone, but ASUS has sensibly used the keyboard attachment to boost that by a further 6.5hrs; you also get a touchpad, 3.5mm audio jack, two USB ports and an SD card reader. We can’t help but wish Acer had packed a battery into their Iconia Tab W500 keyboard slice too.

Unfortunately there’s still no sign of official pricing, though there’s the hint of a €399 ($565) sticker from a European retailer last week. We’ll find out more at ASUS’ official Eee Pad Transformer launch event next week, which will give us a chance to check out the differences between the prototype we played with earlier in the year and the final model.

Review Samsung Galaxy S 3 Mini

Galaxy S 3 Mini vs Galaxy S 3
The Samsung I8190 Galaxy S III mini is like a nostalgic return to the roots for the highly successful Galaxy S franchise. Quite similar to the original Galaxy S specs-wise, the new SIII mini aims to get as much of the Galaxy S IIIs personality into a smaller package thats easy on the thumb - and pocket.

The original Samsung Galaxy S III is currently the smartphone to beat, but to many its too large of a slab to handle. A strong point can be made that a large screen is a must for a great browsing experience or video watching on the go, but not everyone is willing to put up a with the body size such a screen implies.

The Galaxy SIII mini is ready to deal a serious blow to the competition in the midrange, by offering a more compact (and cheaper!) way to get the premium smartphone experience. An ambitious goal it is, but Samsung isnt afraid of a challenge.

Samsung I8190 Galaxy S III mini at a glance:

  • General: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 900/2100 MHz, HSDPA 14.4 Mbps
  • Form factor: Touchscreen bar
  • Dimensions: 121.55 x 63 x 9.85 mm, 111.5 g
  • Display: 4" 16M-color WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
  • Chipset: 1GHz dual-core processor, Mali-400MP GPU, 1GB RAM
  • OS: Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean); TouchWiz UX
  • Memory: 16 GB of inbuilt storage, microSD card slot (up to 32 GB)
  • Camera: 5 megapixel auto-focus, face and smile detection; 720p (1280 x 720) video recording at 30fps
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, stereo Bluetooth 4.0, standard microUSB port, GPS receiver with A-GPS and GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo FM radio with RDS, NFC
  • Misc: built-in accelerometer, multi-touch input, proximity sensor, Swype text input
Actually, the spec sheet is not even half as exciting as the SIIIs. The mini version has the unmistakable styling of the flagship but thats about where it stops. At first glance, its much closer to the original Galaxy S. In fact, it looks like Samsung is merely publishing a remastered version of their 2010 hit single.

Apple Releases iOS 4 3 1 For All Apple Product

All of those Apple iPhone 4 users getting todays upgrade to iOS 4.3.1, please take one step forward. Uh, not so fast you Verizon customers. Outside of Big Reds Apple iPhone 4 users (who are still using iOS 4.2.6 launched in January), those using the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation) the original iPad and iPad 2 can upgrade to the newly launched iOS 4.3.1.

The upgrade includes a fix for a graphics bug on the 4th generation iPod touch, repairs a bug relating to connectivity on some cellular networks, fixes a bug that created a flickering image when using Apple Digital AV Adapter with some television sets, and fixes an issue relating to authenticating with some enterprise web services.

The release of the upgrade is somewhat of a surprise to iOS owners as it had been rumored that the 4.3.1 upgrade would not be released for another two weeks. While the software was released earlier than expected, an upgrade was expected after researcher Charles Miller discovered a flaw in mobile Safari during the Pwn2Own hacking contest. During the contest, Miller shared the flaw with Apple in an effort to have the problem repaired.
